5 Characteristics of Resourceful People That Bring Them Success

What does it mean to be resourceful?

A resourceful person finds a clever solution to a problem, usually under various constraints like money, time, knowledge, infrastructure, etc. Simply put, they make the most of what they have to achieve maximum results, especially in difficult situations. Here are 5 Characteristics of Resourceful People That Bring Them Success

Resourcefulness is a mindset, and it’s particularly important to have that when you’re trying to achieve a difficult goal or a goal for which you do not have a clear guideline as to what to do to see it become a reality. An attitude of that mindset inspires us to think outside of the proverbial box. Possessing a resourceful mindset pushes us to develop new ideas and visualize all the possible ways to achieve whatever it is we desire.

They adapt well to new or difficult situations and they can think creatively. For example, if a snake gets loose in the pet store, a resourceful person will be able to figure out how to lure it back into its cage again. If you are a fresh graduate, being a resourceful people bring so much in you.

5 Characteristics of Resourceful People That Bring Them Success

1. Creative:

Being creative isn’t always about creating something new. It also entails using old things in a new better, more effective way. And all of us can do this if we first start to think of ourselves as being creative.

Creative people like daydream and imagine the possibilities and wonders of the world. They can immerse themselves in imagination and fantasy, yet remain grounded enough to turn their daydreams into reality. They are often described as dreamers, but that doesn’t mean that they live with their heads in the clouds.

So first, choose to see yourself as being inherently creative and then go online and read articles on the several things you can now do to be more creative.

2. Confident:

Resourceful people look at problems and think – I can solve this. There is a way to solve this problem and I’ll find it. Or as an American life coach, Marie Forleo would say –

“EVERYTHING IS FIGUREOUTABLE!”

confident people have a big impact on everyone they encounter. Yet, they achieve this only because they exert so much influence on themselves. We only see them outside. We see them innovate, speak their mind, and encourage themselves forward toward bigger and better things.

3. Open-minded:

Being open-minded simply means that resourceful people are willing to question the rules and limitations that exist which seem to keep them from advancing. They’re also willing to listen to ideas different from theirs, willing to see things from a different point of view. To put it simply, they think outside the box or live outside the box entirely.

One way to do this is to regularly pursue learning experiences outside our comfort zone. Like reading books in fields other than our fields, visiting new places, attending workshops or seminars outside of what we usually attend. Those kinds of exposure to new, unfamiliar ideas help to trigger our brains to see new ways of doing things.

4. Proactive:

Resourceful people don’t just think; they act. They execute. They realize that to achieve their goals they must do the work not just think up the ideas or talk the talk.

The decision to be proactive, willing, and quick to test out new ideas and see how things pan out invariable takes the resourceful person closer to achieving success.

Proactive people focus their efforts on their Circle of Influence. They work on the things they can do something about: health, children, or problems at work.

5. Persistent

Resourceful people never give up, so they invariably succeed. Being resourceful demands that we keep thinking of ways to achieve whatever goal it is we’ve set as long as we realize that it is worth pursuing.

Therefore to be resourceful, we must be persistent in our pursuit. Never willing to quit trying because of the discouraging experience we would invariably encounter as we chase our greatness.

They have a goal or vision in mind that motivates and drives them. They are often dreamers and visionaries who see their lives as having a higher purpose than simply earning a living. Their vision is deeply ingrained, and they focus on it constantly and with great emotion and energy.

To achieve what you want, you shouldn’t have to rely on the resources you have or haven’t got. Your ability to become a resourceful person depends on how you use what you already have. Always remember, “It’s never about your resources; it’s always about your resourcefulness. If something is important, you will find a way.”

To develop a resourceful mindset be willing to constantly improve yourself. Be open to learning new things and do all you can to keep current with what is happening within your industry. Know and embrace what your personal strengths and weaknesses are and learn how to control and overcome them. You cannot manage every situation you encounter effectively if you do not have the ability to harness your fears and/or weaknesses.

Therefore, read as many books as you can, consistently educate yourself, and put what you learn into full-blown action. Become the person who finds the loopholes, who is scrappy and innovative. When you practice resourcefulness, you raise the bar and success is a guarantee.
